Terms of Service

Last updated: August 30, 2026

1. Who we are

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Study Cafe Online ("Study Cafe Online", "we", "us", "our"), the seller and operator of the Study Cafe Online website and study tools (the "Service"). By creating an account or continuing to use the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you confirm you have authority to bind that organization. Otherwise, you confirm you are of legal age to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction.

2. The Service

Study Cafe Online turns images you upload or YouTube links you provide into study materials: summary notes, quizzes, tests (multiple choice and free response), flashcards, and a scrollable question feed, along with printing, PDF export, and an optional Spotify player.

A free plan ("Quiet hours") includes one note set per day and one quiz, one test, one flashcard deck and 30 minutes of question feed per two-week period. A paid subscription ("Unlimited", $4.99/month or $50/year) removes those usage caps while active.

3. Payments, billing and our reseller Paddle

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.

Payment, billing, tax, cancellation, and refund mechanics are governed by Paddle's Buyer Terms, available at paddle.com/legal/checkout-buyer-terms. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled. You can cancel at any time through the Paddle customer portal linked from your account page; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period, and you keep Unlimited access until then. Our refund terms are described in our Refund Policy.

4. Your account

You must provide accurate information when creating your account and keep it up to date. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials confidential and for all activity that occurs under your account.

5. Acceptable use and generated content

You must not misuse the Service. In particular, you must not:

  • Use the Service for anything unlawful, fraudulent, or to send spam;
  • Upload content you do not have the rights to use, or that infringes anyone's intellectual property;
  • Interfere with the Service's security or infrastructure, including introducing malware, probing or scanning systems, or scraping the Service;
  • Use generated content to create illegal material, deepfakes, hate speech, or to harass others, or attempt to bypass safety controls;
  • Reverse engineer, resell, redistribute, or circumvent usage limits or other technical controls of the Service.

Study materials are generated by AI and may be inaccurate or incomplete. You are responsible for your prompts and uploads, for how you use the generated content, and for verifying anything important before relying on it. The Service is a study aid and is not a substitute for professional advice.

6. Intellectual property

We own the Service and all of its intellectual property, including the software, design, documentation, and branding. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service within your plan for personal, non-commercial study purposes.

You retain ownership of the images and links you submit. You grant us a limited license to host and process that content solely to provide the Service to you. Study materials generated from your uploads are yours to use for your own study. If you believe content on the Service infringes your rights, contact us and we will review and remove it where appropriate; repeated infringement may lead to account termination.

7. Service level and warranties

We work hard to keep the Service available, but we do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that generated content will be accurate. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

8. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, consequential, or special damages, including lost profits, lost data, or lost goodwill. Our aggregate liability to you is capped at the fees you paid in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for fraud, death, or personal injury where the law does not allow it.

9. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you materially breach these Terms, fail to pay amounts due, pose a security or fraud risk, or repeatedly or seriously violate these policies. When your access ends, your study sets may be deleted after a reasonable export window.

10. General

We may update these Terms from time to time; continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms. We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger or acquisition.

Questions about these Terms? Reach us through the contact options on your account page or via Paddle's customer support for order-related questions.
